VR Recommendations Part 2

In late 2017 I wrote a Medium article recommending my favorite VR experiences. This piece is a followup since the landscape has evolved so much. The focus here is entirely on experiences available for the Oculus Quest headset.

The Under Presents: Exploring this odd world is half the fun. Occasionally they run shows like The Tempest that include live actors and other elements of immersive theater.

Virtual Virtual Reality: Made by the same company as The Under Presents, this is another deep dive into worlds untethered by our own physical constraints. Part story, part puzzle, 100% new.

I Expect You To Die: The only experience I’m including a second time. This immersive story meets VR escape room is the perfect bite-sized entertainment for VR. One of my all time favorites.

Pistol Whip: This rail shooter combines elements of the wildly popular “Beat Saber” with a shooter game. Very addictive game play and catchy soundtrack.

A Fisherman’s Tale: This part story, part escape room is a gorgeous puzzler that uses the VR medium to accomplish feats that would be impossible in the real world.

The Room VR: This game evolves the classic mobile-based Room series to VR with a lot more immersion and story. The puzzles are challenging but solvable.

Spatial: This is currently my favorite remote collaboration tool. Create a room and get your team together for a brainstorm or meeting across the world.

Acron: Attack of the Squirrels: This multi-platform game leverages both VR and mobile devices. One player is in VR as an evil tree. Up to four other players use their mobile phones as controllers in the same world to control squirrels trying to steal nuts from the tree. Excellent couch social game.
